Introducing
the
GRYPHON wind generators — from the same Canadian folks that have
brought us the marine-rated wind generator
NPP450 Sprite now
comes a line of tough, reliable wind generators, capable of powering
your home, farm, boat or cabin (depending on your wind resource and
power requirements). The Gryphon is a land-rated permanent magnet
turbine which has good output in all wind conditions. It has few
moving parts, so there is no need for periodic maintenance. Its
larger blades and tail ensure better performance than similar rated
turbines on the market; and these are exceptionally quiet through
its entire operating range. Its superior wind tracking adds to its
unparalleled efficiency. The Gryphon turbines come standard with a
separate charge controller which handles 12V, 24V, 48V, and 240V up
to 2600 watts; a three year manufacturer’s warranty completes this
outstanding turbine.Gryphon wind generators

The controller for these regulates the unrectified (‘wild’) AC
output of the wind generators — and AC output means you don’t need
heavy gauge wire between the wind generator and your batteries like
with the low voltage DC units; the controller also has a built-in
heat dump. The blades are complex resin fiberglass extruded
technology; the turbine neck contains slip rings that spin 360
degrees.
The survival wind speeds of these units is 100 mph — but that is not
much of an issue, as the furling tail just furls more and kicks out
of the wind at high speeds (see power graph, below). These are not
reverse-polarity protected on the battery side, so it’s important to
wire them correctly...and, they ARE easy to wire. Also, replacement
parts are available as needed for warranty purposes.
Call or e-mail us at 877-627-4768 or 4778 (info@oasismontana.com) if
you need information on the lattice self-standing tower kits, which
range from 40 ft. to 120 ft. tall and from $2400 to $13,500, before
freight. While we endeavor to keep our prices as current as
possible, in these times of rising metal prices, please call to
confirm pricing as well as your freight costs.
 We
at Oasis Montana also offer products from Bergey Windpower
Corporation (www.bergey.com) and Southwest Windpower (www.windenergy.com).
You can download tech specs and manuals from these suppliers on
their web pages— lots of information for your use. If you have
average wind speeds of 10-12 mph or better, you will find that wind
power is an excellent addition to fatten your batteries. You can
find more information about wind power at
www.awea.org and
information on wind resources at either
www.nrel.gov/wind or
www.windpowermaps.org. If you don’t want a battery-based system,
check out the Skystream on Southwest Windpower’s site, or the Excel
10 on Bergey Windpower’s web page, for your batteryless grid-tie
wind generator options.
